Cheryl & Dave – vow renewal ceremony | East Riddlesden Hall | 28th May 2018

Twenty years of marriage is worth celebrating, in whatever way you choose, as it’s a fabulous milestone in a couples journey together. Celebrating it with a vow renewal ceremony in the same venue where the marriage took place – is even more special. When Cheryl & Dave asked me to capture their story I was over the moon!

Cheryl wanted the day to have a relaxed party vibe where everyone could kick back, enjoy the surroundings and delicious food. There was face painting for the kids, an old fashioned sweet stall for everyone and lots of games for the children to enjoy. East Riddlesden Hall is a National Trust gem – when you drive through the gates and are greeted with the sweeping lake and historic house beyond, it takes your breath away. The characterful old Airedale Barn, opposite the house, is stunning was the perfect place for the ceremony.

I started capturing their story at Steeton Hall Hotel, where everyone was getting ready for the day. To capture a story I have to be a quiet observer. I like to stay in the background and wait for those precious moments to reveal themselves. What I love about this first ‘getting ready’ shot, is the pure joy on the faces of the bridesmaids. They giggled and laughed through the morning – curling their hair and applying toenail polish up until the last minute! It was fab.

There are lots of images to tell this story however for this post, I’ve chosen a few of my favourites (and the couples!) to give  flavour of the wonderful day… x
