Hi, I’m Cecilia!

When I’m not creating strategic personal branding images for female entrepreneurs or capturing timeless family stories, you can find me documenting my own. We love trips to Bamburgh beach and spending time in the Yorkshire Dales. I’m at my happiest when I’m with my family, walking our Labrador, drinking lattes with friends, swimming or reading a good book. I’m a roast chicken dinner enthusiast, a dark chocolate lover and I’m partial to a sneaky glass of red – despite my little vices, I love to exercise and this year will be making it a priority!

Living the dream.

Photography is my dream job… I know, I know it sounds so cliché. But it really is. I was that inquisitive child always taking photos of everyone at family gatherings – looking back I now realise why I’m in barely any of the photos!

After school, I backed out of my dream to study at art college and instead got a ‘nice and reliable’ job in a bank. I bounced around a few fairly mundane jobs before landing in marketing. During this time, I completed an MA in Marketing and studied Photography part-time. I loved the whole process of developing my rolls of film in the darkroom and then printing my own prints too. It fascinated me every time. I gained my A-Level and City & Guild qualifications and then went on to work part-time in the darkroom. Then I had kids.

Boy does your world turn totally upside down when that happens. I felt this newfound sense of identity and needed to switch things up career-wise. The life of a marketing manager was no longer for me and I decided to finally follow my dream. I wanted to spend more time with my children, watch them grow, be there for the school concerts and sports days and – most importantly – be the one to capture the fast-moving years. So here I am, capturing my family and yours, from newborn baby to great grandparents and everyone in between

shoebox of memories

In my own family, we have a big brown shoebox full of black-and-white photographs handed down through the generations. I have the best memories of sifting through and asking my grandma … ‘Who are they?’ ‘Where was it taken?’ ‘What were they celebrating?’ and relishing the stories that lay behind each picture.

Most families have a similar collection of memories – physical albums and boxes full of photographs you flick through when everyone’s together. But as we’ve journeyed into the digital era, how often do you print and display photos of you and your family? Digital photography is great but swiping through a library on an iPad doesn’t spark the same emotions that touching a beautifully printed photograph does.

My mission is to capture every member of your family – even the ones who hate being in front of the camera – and create your very own treasure trove of memories to enjoy and pass down for years to come.
