I love photographing Christenings. They represent such a beautiful time in a young persons life …. I was honoured to be asked to photograph this Christening in Malton, North Yorkshire. Before the day I chatted to the parents about the arrangements and who would be there: grandparents, great grandparents, god parents and very close friends and that the christening was going to take place in a quaint little church.
I was very excited to be part of this little boys special day and couldn’t wait for it to arrive. As a family & children’s photographer, I am always looking to photograph connections between the parents and children because this makes beautiful memories to treasure for years to come. A christening is a super time to do this as all family members get together to celebrate.
On the morning of the christening, I arrived at their home in plenty of time before the service as I wanted to capture the moments of the baby getting ready for his big day. These photographs are just as important to me, as the time spent in the church, because they help to tell the full story of the day. As a professional photographer it is my role to tell my clients’ story through the imagery that I produce for them. I want my clients to be able to relive the day when viewing their images and choose a wonderful selection of photographs to place in their heirloom Folio album, stunning coffee table book, bespoke frames or fine art prints.
I began the day capturing a beautiful photograph of baby & Mummy before getting some lovely quiet photographs of the baby boy in his bedroom – one of my favourites is the little feet shot. We then moved to his parents room whilst they dressed him in his lovely outfit.
