Today I want to share with you the story of Gemma & James’s beautiful wedding held at the gorgeous St Josephs Church, Lytham in May. From start the finish the wedding was full of love, joy, tears, laughter, giggles & miles of smiles. Gemma looked radiant in her stunning gown and James made his bride laugh all day – they were beautiful together. The wedding reception was held at the Clifton Arms Hotel – a stunning hotel where the staff went that extra mile to make sure the guests were happy.
Photographing a wedding is a real privilege. Being trusted to capture a couple’s story as it unfolds is an honour – one to be proud of and if I’m honest also a little scary – will my cameras work, will it rain, what if I get lost driving to the reception – all these little unnecessary worries creep into your mind no matter how much you prepare. As always though there is no need to worry because as a professional photographer all these things are taken into account beforehand (or I wouldn’t even step out of the house!). The minute I arrived at Gemma’s mum’s house, I could feel the buzz around the home and the excitement mounting. Leanne the hairdresser who owns Salon 7 – in Leyland, was busy doing Gemma’s hair & then the bridesmaids to make sure they were all coiffed to perfection – I think you’ll agree they all look stunning!
Sandwiches and cups of tea were flowing (as was the champagne too!) adding to the mornings’ preparations. Around noon, I had to leave Gemma and her Mum to head to the church to photograph James with his best man and ushers. It had started to rain however we still managed to get some fabulous ‘boys’ shots outside the church before James went inside to wait for his beautiful bride.
James & Gemma had a lovely full nuptial mass which lasted an hour then we were back outside for group photos before heading off to the reception. We made a little stop along the way so I could take some photos of the happy couple at the iconic windmill and promenade, before their wedding reception. It was raining on and off but that didn’t stop me getting the photographs they wanted – an umbrella always comes in handy…
The reception was fabulous; great speeches, amazing food and then into the evening with a disco and lots of fun. I have chosen these photographs so that you too can live Gemma & James’s wedding story. Enjoy x
