I meet lots of very interesting business owners when I attend my local networking groups. Ladies who are following their dream, either after becoming a mum, or simply changing direction in their line of work. There is an increasing number of women joining the self-employed ranks following their dreams. The reasons for this, I believe, are endless: women crave a better work life balance; they are fed up of the corporate world and the stress this brings; they want to be there more for their children (see their child’s concerts and assemblies instead of picking them up at 6pm from the childminder!). Of course all this takes an enormous amount of effort and late nights when the kids are in bed (speaking from experience) however there is nothing more satisfying – I believe – than being your own boss.
Over the years, I have taken business head shots for a number of ladies (and a gents) and now it is becoming far more popular. As we live in an increasingly digital world, it’s really important to have a photograph you love and are very proud of. This you can then share on your business website, your Linkedin profile, on marketing literature, in the press or for PR and social media. In my new venture – Business portraits for women – I am working with some wonderful ladies to produce images that they can be proud of and Rachel from the award-winning company MyRoo Skincare, did just that.
MyRoo Skincare is the UK’s first totally free from skincare brand. All the products are natural, organic and vegan. They are free from nuts (all nut products not just edible ones), gluten and dairy and also free from all 14 food allergens and synthetic irritants. All their products are also available fragrance free too… so what’s not to love about this wonderful brand.
Based in Harrogate, Rachel was keen to have elements of Harrogate in the photographs so we spent an hour walking around the lovely streets, chatting and looking for some lovely backgrounds to photograph. Harrogate has some iconic bus shelters so this was on top of Rachel’s list to visit – they are great – I did have to stand in the middle of the road and dodge a few cars which made it all the more fun.
Here are a selection of Rachel’s favourite images and as always please feel free to let me know what you think.. thank you Cx
